Happy Fathers Day

Yesterday was Fathers Day. Happy fathers day to all you fathers! Dad, we are sorry we didn't get to talk to you. We called but only got your voicemail. Sad we can't be up there to be with you on your day.

Our little family...

My little family started the day I found out I was pregnant January 24, 2006. That day I was told I was six weeks pregnant and even got to hear Austin's heartbeat. I couldn't stop smiling.
My mom was the first to know because we had plans to meet for lunch and I couldn't not explain why I had this permanent smile on my face. After lunch I raced home to tell my boyfriend the big news. I even got a speeding ticket! Miah and I were so excited that we cancelled our plans for that day to go sledding to go to his moms work and tell her our little family would be expanding. News spread fast and before long everybody knew and was excited for us!
The day finally came when we'd meet Austin for the first time September 20, 2006. It was an exciting day and I will never forget the magic of giving birth and holding your child for the very first time.
I'm sad to say that the family we had started out with didn't make it through my pregnancy as Miah had made some choices and started on another route for his life without us. We were able to part as friends and as parents. Though a family is what I had hoped for I know in my heart that my Heavenly Father had a different plan for Austin and I. We now share custody of Austin and we both take an active role in his life.
We are now back in Utah so I can continue my education and Austin can spend more time with his father. I recently graduated from school to be a Dental Assistant but have decided to further my education by going back to school. Austin is in a daycare that offers Pre pre-school and he knows his shapes, number, and colors. He loves to learn, read, sing, and play with mom. He is a very active little boy!
Though it is hard being a single mom, it is also very rewarding. With the help of my family I have been lucky enough to not feel the struggle of doing it all alone and have had a lot of help. I am very grateful to my family and faith as this is not an easy thing.
I know that it won't always be the two us, but for now it is and we are blessed with family, love, friends, and faith.
